If you bought Bartender 3 after April 2020 you are entitled to a free upgrade to Bartender 4, Bartender 4 will accept and use your Bartender 3 license.
How do I update from a previous version?
You need to be on macOS Big Sur, then you can download Bartender 4 from the website, open the disk image and move Bartender 4 to your applications folder. You can then delete any previous versions of Bartender you have and launch Bartender 4.
How do I buy an upgrade from a previous version?
Click Buy Now, then select Upgrade to Bartender 4. You will be prompted to enter your previous license details, once submitted and instantly verified you will be able to purchase a Bartender 4 license with a 50% discount.

What are the licensing terms?
A Bartender license is for 1 user, for use on all their Macs.
Do you offer student discount?
Unfortunately at the moment we do not offer student discount.
Bartender 3 item ordering is weird
Bartender 3 and macOS need to get in sync for ordering to work, this may require you ⌘+drag items a few times to set their position. If an item keeps moving back to the right, please try moving all other items around it instead of just that one item, as the other items positions may not have been set correctly.
Bartender 3 is not working with an App?
There are a few things that can cause this:
- Some apps need to be relaunched before Bartender can control them.
- Sometimes you need to manually move a menu item once by ⌘+dragging it, then restart Bartender and it will then work.
- Sometime its necessary to restart Bartender, or logout and back in.
If it still does not work it could be due to an incompatibility, you are best setting the app to 'Always show in the menu bar' and send feedback about the issue.
I am not on macOS Sierra or newer yet, can I still get Bartender 2?
